How to Check if Your iPhone 6s Has a A9 Chip From Samsung or TSMC

Both Samsung and TSMC are making A9 chips for the iPhone 6s. Here's how to check which one your device has.

Step One:
Install Lirum Device Info Lite from the App Store for free.

How to Check if Your iPhone 6s Has a A9 Chip From Samsung or TSMC

Step Two
Launch the app and look at the Model number under the Home tab.

If you have model N66AP (6s Plus) or model N71AP (6s) then you have the Samsung chip. If you have model N66MAP (6s Plus) or N71MAP (6s) then you have the TSMC chip.

I'd wait and save more along with the s models fixing the problems a new iPhone gets just like bendgate. It may be too thin though.

I had a 16gb with the TSMC chip and traded it for the 64gb because 16 just isn't enough. Now unfortunately I am stuck with the Samsung chip and I can honestly see the difference in battery life. I have the 6s 64gb. Huge difference. Wish I would've known before I swapped phones.

I wish there was some scanner that can detect the chip in the 6s so I can tell which phone model I will want exactly.

Not an accurate assessment has the slow down you "perceive" could be from having more memory. The comparison needs to be done between to 64 phones.

Notice one is only WIFI and the other shows it with cellular active. . The post makes no mention of this.

Well, very sharp attention to details! But actually, the battery's life of the one with "Wifi" only (without SIM card) is 1h50 shorter. I guess that people owning a 6s with a Samsung ship should simply return it. It's abnormal to built and test a device for several months and get so much discrepancies in battery life because of a chip brand! I'm doubting about the screenshot, iClarified... that for clarifying this point ;O)

Does anyone know if the chips are randomly used or there might be country or areas selected, example USA or Canada iphone 6s have Samsung chips, while Asia iphone have tmsc chips

Have a look a cpu usage when pressing screen for 3D Touch. It will pick at 18%.

Look at the cpu usage when you press the volume buttons up or down. Jumps up higher.

Extra battery one. Do notice pushing on Safari links with force touch on , have to push link 1-4 times to open. With force touch off takes one push.
