iPhone 6s Shipments Short of Production Line Expectations?

Posted December 29, 2015 at 3:43pm by iClarified
Shipments of the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus from productions lines in Q4 are reportedly 5-10% lower than originally expected, reports DigiTimes.

The lowered factory shipments are in line with the latest forecasts of iPhone shipments in the consumer-end market, said the sources, adding that most market research firms have lowered overall iPhone device shipment estimates for the fourth quarter of 2015 to 72-75 million units, compared to 76-78 million units predicted earlier, indicated the sources. Furthermore, overall iPhone shipments for the first quarter of 2016 have also been lowered to 52-56 million units from the previous estimate of 58-60 million units. The revised figures also represent a decline of 12-15% as compared to a year earlier.

Some makers have reduced overtime shifts since November to address the decline in demand and could start the Lunar New Year holidays ahead of schedule. Sources tell the site that Foxconn's plant in Zhengzhou, China may be one that shifts its holiday schedule; however, Foxconn says its operations at Zhengzhou remain normal and it will implement the holiday schedule in accordance with regulations and the willingness of its workers.

Despite the reported drop in production line shipments, Apple dominated holiday sales selling 49.1% of all new devices (down 2.2% from last year).

What did they expect the 6S is barely any different from the iPhone 6 !! They need to stop doing "S" variants and do completely new phones every year to innovate faster and stay years ahead of the competition! They're starting to fall behind in terms of having the latest and most innovative features in their products.

1. Did you not catch the phrase: "the only thing that changed is EVERYTHING"? 2. name some things others are coming out with other than wireless charging since that's barely any different from just plugging in. 3. Whether they introduces versions or not, it changes nothing from innovating faster when they still do good either way even if most of the competition is ahead of them, but really they haven't fallen behind in anything other than market shares android has.

Says the true troll who judges people on a site dedicated to apple, but I digress. Retina Flash, 4K video, force touch which is possible by a new vibration motor that takes up little battery space so battery changed to, bend resisting bezel, stronger cover glass, extended lte antennas, Live Photos, upgraded touch I.D.
