Samsung is 'Actively and Aggressively' Exploring Its Own Proprietary Headphone Jack

Posted September 15, 2016 at 5:24am by iClarified
Samsung is 'actively and aggressively' exploring its own proprietary headphone jack in response to Apple dropping the 3.5mm jack for its Lightning connector, reports Digital Music News. The new port would be incompatible with iPhone accessories.

If true, the so called 'jack warfare' could see the 3.5mm jack pushed out by a collection of competing and incompatible connectors and ports.

Samsung’s proprietary jack would be designed with all Android manufacturers in mind, with easy and cost-free (or extremely low-cost) licensing to encourage adoption. That could be complemented by a broader Android OS, though sources had little knowledge on the software integration.

Samsung is reportedly hoping that headphone manufacturers will prioritize their jack first based on the large number of Android users. However, It seems more likely that Android manufacturers will move to using USB-C as a connector for audio if they do decide to drop the 3.5mm port.

What a joke. If Samsung follows Apple by trying to make their own proprietary jack, imagine the rest of android Handphone makers doing their own too. LG, Xiaomi, Huawei, Sony etc etc. hooray! Android fragmentation plus hardware fragmentation. Yippee!!!

Remember at the Note 7 unveiled, they mocked Apple for allegedly dropping the headphone jack? Well look who went ahead and did the same.

Wow, that was brutal to read! But yea, YOU said it, I'm sure. I'm not a fan of Samsung myself but I find it hilarious how people bash them and Apple... like they care lol! This business. Fact is that both companies have more money then the people doing the bashing so obviously they are doing something right. *this message was not written by a robot*
