The North Face has launched Snow Report 2.0, a free iPhone weather application for skiers and snowboarders that aggregates resort-specific Twitter updates and weather and snow condition feeds.

The North Face Snow Report 2.0 features weather updates and detailed daily forecasts for the most popular domestic and international resorts. Utilizing an innovative new format, The North Face Snow Report 2.0 is the first to aggregate topical information and Twitter news feeds into one application, allowing users to access instant peer-to-peer feedback about snow conditions and tweet their own updates directly from the application.

As with the original The North Face Snow Report that launched in the winter of 2008, consumers are able to select, save and arrange favorite winter resorts for easy and quick access to the current and recent snowfall, wind direction and wind speed information. In addition to the new Twitter function, the latest version features Push Notification, which alerts users about snowfall at their favorite resorts by displaying an icon above the application logo. Other new features include access to 24-, 48- and 72- hour total snowfalls, more high resolution trail maps and avalanche advisories.

"The Snow Report 2.0 gives users the most current and accurate snow condition updates and supplements that with community-based first-hand feedback from skiers and snowboarders that are already on the slopes," said Aaron Carpenter, vice president of marketing for The North Face.

The application also allows users to access driving directions to their favorite resorts through Google Maps with the Locate function and quickly find their way around upon arrival with the Trail Maps function. Consumers will be able to access additional information through links to The Weather Underground®, as well as resort specific Web sites and links to avalanche forecasts for their favorite zones.

"Like most people who love skiing and snowboarding, I feel like I'm part of a community when I'm on the trails," said world-renown snowboarder David Carrier-Porcheron of The North Face Athlete Team. "Being able to get first-hand insights from other people on the slopes is a great way of connecting with the community."

The Snow Report 2.0 also features a The North Face Store Locator, a TheNorthFace.com news feed and athlete image galleries. To download The North Face Snow Report 2.0 at no cost.
