Apple's rumored foldable iPhone could feature a combined battery capacity of nearly 4,900 mAh, according to newly surfaced supplier filings that align with earlier supply chain forecasts.
According to details shared by leaker Digital Chat Station on Weibo, Apple battery suppliers recently registered two new battery models believed to be intended for the company's foldable iPhone. The cells carry minimum rated capacities of 1,921 mAh and 2,962 mAh, yielding a combined minimum capacity of 4,883 mAh. The figures align with earlier supply chain forecasts that placed the device's total capacity between 4,800 and 5,000 mAh.
Using two battery cells is standard practice for foldable smartphones, allowing power to be distributed across both halves of the device while maximizing internal space. Apple has also reportedly adopted a highly modular internal layout that moves all physical inputs to the right edge of the frame, avoiding complex wiring across the central hinge mechanism.
The dual-cell design would power a 7.8-inch internal display alongside a 5.5-inch cover display. The device has also been rumored to launch under the iPhone Ultra name, featuring a passport-style aspect ratio, the A20 Pro chip, and side-mounted Touch ID.
While the device is expected to be unveiled in September alongside the iPhone 18 Pro lineup, recent supply chain analysis suggests retail availability could follow later in the fourth quarter, with initial quantities expected to be limited.
