Apple Shares 'ECG: Connor's True Apple Watch Story' [Video]

Apple has shared the latest entry in its series of true Apple Watch stories, featuring Connor, a triathlete who credits the Apple Watch ECG app with detecting atrial fibrillation and potentially saving his life.

The short video, published on Apple's official YouTube channel, is titled "ECG: Connor's True Apple Watch Story."


Connor recalls noticing his heart rate reach about 219 beats per minute while training for a triathlon. He used the ECG app on his watch, and the reading revealed signs of atrial fibrillation. A visit to his doctor uncovered a previously unknown congenital heart condition requiring open-heart surgery. After the operation, he describes feeling like he has "almost like I've got a new engine."

"I can't say enough good things about the Apple Watch," Connor says. "It's amazing."

The video follows an earlier installment that highlighted how Apple Watch Fall Detection automatically called for help after a mountain biker was knocked unconscious. The ECG app comes preinstalled on Apple Watch Series 4 and later, along with all Apple Watch Ultra models. It is not available on Apple Watch SE models.
