After Relentlessly Mocking Apple, Samsung Drops the Headphone Jack

After years of mocking Apple, Samsung has dropped the headphone jack on its latest Galaxy smartphone.

The company just unveiled the new Galaxy A8s which features a 6.4-inch Infinity-O display (with a hole punch in the corner for the selfie camera), a Snapdragon 710 processor, up to 8GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, microSD and a triple-lens camera on the back.

Notably, there is no headphone jack! Furthermore, rumors suggest that Samsung will continue to drop it from future smartphone models with the upcoming Galaxy S10 possibly being the last to feature a 3.5mm jack.

No comment yet from the company on why it's decided to exclude the jack from the A8s after mocking Apple relentlessly for doing the same.

I find it amusing that if Samsung actually focused on following their own path, they might become a true iPhone competitor. With that being said, nowadays Samsung made a meme of themselves only good to bust a gut. Trust and respect denied 馃槀馃槀.

I鈥檓 thinking about switching from iPhone 8 Plus to Samsung in the next couple of years, Samsung is finally starting to make a phone that I like, a phone just like Apples, and I don鈥檛 want to give my money to greedy apple anymore.

The screen is not infinity yet if without the hole on the left-hand corner! It will be the same as the notch on the iPhone but more annoying because it will look like a huge dead pixel in this model. For iPhone they have accepted it because they know now that the notch holds valuable tech of the iPhone but a hole in the screen for the front camera is a dumb idea. It will be way more cooler if the front lens is hidden behind the screen. If only Samshot knows how to wait for the right time to release their tech and not to be always first and it is half-baked.

I think they will not let go of the headphone jack on the S10. It is the only reliable feature in their phone that makes it sell. Without it nobody will buy their crap anymore! Top phones that excels per feature. Best Battery: Motorola E5 Plus Best Biometric Security Implementation: iPhone Best Camera: Huawei Mate 20 Pro Best OS Reliability: iOS/iPhone Best Audio: LG V40 Best Display: Samsung Note 9 (*at least they got one here!) More 3rd Party Accessory Support: iPhone

You know Samsung designed and manufactured that screen right.

Hah! That鈥檚 what you know! Samsung is just a screen manufacturer of Apple. Apple does their screen design. Apple pays for the production of the screens, Samsung delivers. Apple and Samsung鈥檚 OLEDs are two different designs bit the same manufacturing technique by Samsung. How come Apple鈥檚 screens supplied by Samsung, LG and Sharp have the same designs. It is a form of infringement copying the same design from another manufacturer. So in this scenario Apple tells the OLED screen manufacturers what to do and they will just manufacture it as per Apple鈥檚 design.

Well yes. Of course that鈥檚 how it works but they aren鈥檛 responsible for any unique or revolutionary tech with regard to those screens. The technology was developed by Samsung. Apple simply orders that screen in a particular form factor, color etc...

There are considerations. 1- it鈥檚 over two years later. 2- this isn鈥檛 a flagship phone. 3- Samsung phones support A2DP
