Apple and fashion house ISSEY MIYAKE have unveiled the iPhone Pocket, a new 3D-knitted accessory designed to carry an iPhone and other small items. Born from a collaboration between the two companies, the new pocket will be available in short and long strap designs in a variety of colors starting Friday, November 14.
The iPhone Pocket is crafted in Japan and features a singular 3D-knitted construction inspired by ISSEY MIYAKE's iconic pleated clothing and the concept of "a piece of cloth." The ribbed, open structure is designed to fit any iPhone, expanding to hold other everyday items. The open textile allows users to peek at their iPhone display, and the accessory can be worn handheld, tied onto a bag, or worn directly on the body.
"Apple and ISSEY MIYAKE share a design approach that celebrates craftsmanship, simplicity, and delight," said Molly Anderson, Apple's vice president of Industrial Design. "This clever extra pocket exemplifies those ideas and is a natural accompaniment to our products." The collaboration follows Apple's recent push into more fashion-oriented accessories, including a new line of cases and cross-body straps released alongside the iPhone 17 lineup.
"The design of iPhone Pocket speaks to the bond between iPhone and its user, while keeping in mind that an Apple product is designed to be universal in aesthetic and versatile in use," added Yoshiyuki Miyamae, design director of MIYAKE DESIGN STUDIO.
The limited-edition release will be available in two styles. The short strap design comes in lemon, mandarin, purple, pink, peacock, sapphire, cinnamon, and black. The long strap version will be available in sapphire, cinnamon, and black.
The short strap iPhone Pocket will retail for $149.95 (U.S.), with the long strap version priced at $229.95 (U.S.). It will be available on apple.com and at select Apple Store locations, including SoHo in New York City, Regent Street in London, and Ginza in Tokyo.
