I am trying to update an iPad 2 Wi-Fi (model A1395) from iOS 6.1 to iOS 7.1.2 using the iPad2,1_7.1.2_11D257_Restore.ipsw firmware. Despite using the latest version of iTunes, I receive an error stating the firmware is incompatible.

Apple has stopped signing iOS 7.1.2 for the iPad 2, which means iTunes will no longer allow you to restore or update to that specific firmware version. When Apple stops signing a firmware, their servers will reject the installation request, often resulting in an incompatible firmware or verification error. For the iPad 2 Wi-Fi model, the final supported version is iOS 9.3.5. You should update to the latest available version through iTunes or the device Settings app instead of manually selecting an older IPSW file.
