Using SHSH Blobs in Redsn0w or TinyUmbrella With Different iPhones

I have two AT&T iPhone 4 devices. Mine is on iOS 6.0 and jailbroken, while my wife's is on iOS 5.1.1 and not jailbroken. TinyUmbrella shows saved SHSH blobs for iOS 4.1, 4.2.1, 4.2b3, 4.3, and 5.0.1 on my device. Are these SHSH files valid if I don't remember backing them up? Also, can I use SHSH blobs from my wife's iPhone to downgrade my own device using TinyUmbrella or Redsn0w?

SHSH blobs are digitally signed certificates that are unique to each specific device's ECID (Exclusive Chip ID). This means you cannot use SHSH blobs from your wife's iPhone to downgrade or restore your own iPhone, even though they are both iPhone 4 models. The SHSH blobs you see in TinyUmbrella for your device (4.1 through 5.0.1) are likely valid. In the past, Cydia automatically cached these blobs for jailbroken devices whenever Apple was signing those firmware versions. You can use Redsn0w or TinyUmbrella to stitch these blobs into a custom IPSW to downgrade your device to any of the versions you have saved, but you are limited to only the versions listed for your specific serial number.

The short answer is no. SHSH blobs are unique to each individual device and are not interchangeable between phones of the same model. Only SHSH blobs generated for your specific device's ECID will work. If Cydia or TinyUmbrella has not saved SHSH blobs for the specific firmware version you want to restore to, you will not be able to downgrade to that version.
