I have a jailbroken iPhone 4 (GSM) on iOS 4.0 with baseband 01.59.00. I want to upgrade to iOS 5.1.1 while maintaining an untethered jailbreak and preserving my unlockable baseband. I have SHSH blobs saved for iOS 4.x, 5.x, and 6.0.1. What is the best way to restore to a version of iOS 5 using these blobs without updating the baseband?

To upgrade your iPhone 4 while preserving the 01.59.00 baseband, you must use a custom IPSW created with a tool like PwnageTool or Sn0wbreeze. Since Apple is no longer signing iOS 5.1.1, you will also need to use your saved SHSH blobs and a tool like iFaith or Redsn0w to stitch them into the custom firmware. First, download the iOS 5.1.1 IPSW for the iPhone 3,1. Use Redsn0w or Sn0wbreeze to create a No Baseband custom firmware that includes your SHSH blobs. Once the custom firmware is created, put your device into Pwned DFU mode using Redsn0w. Finally, open iTunes and hold the Shift key on Windows or Option key on Mac while clicking Restore to select your custom IPSW. After the restore is complete, you can jailbreak untethered using Absinthe or Redsn0w. To keep your jailbroken apps, you should back up your Cydia packages using a tool like PKGBackup before starting the process, though a fresh install is often more stable when moving between major iOS versions.
