When the Apple Watch Series 6 was new, Apple said it could last up to 18 hours on a charge. That’s under their test conditions, though. If you’re using a Series 6 today, especially a used one, the battery won’t run as long as it did when it was brand-new. Most people get somewhere around 10 to 14 hours in normal daily use, depending on how many workouts, notifications, and LTE features they use.
Here are Apple’s official numbers when the Series 6 was new:
• Indoor workout: up to 11 hours
• Outdoor workout (GPS): up to 7 hours
• Outdoor workout (GPS + LTE): up to 6 hours
• Audio playback: up to 11 hours from on-device storage, or up to 8 hours streaming over LTE
• Talk time: about 1.5 hours on LTE
• All-day use: up to 18 hours based on Apple’s mixed-use test
In real-world use, GPS workouts rarely hit the official numbers. For example, Apple lists 7 hours for a GPS run, but ~5 hours is more realistic if you’re waking the screen to check pace, streaming music, or have background activity running.
If you’re evaluating a used watch, it’s a good idea to check the Battery Health value under Settings > Battery. Anything under 80% will noticeably reduce battery life, especially during workouts.
