I installed Samba via Cydia on my jailbroken device, but when I try to configure it through the settings menu, I get the message Error setting root password (invalid or empty password). I have tried various passwords with different combinations of characters, but I always get the same error. How can I fix this?

This error often occurs on certain iOS versions due to a code-signing certificate issue. To resolve it, you need to sign the Samba executables with a valid certificate. You can do this by transferring the executables from your iOS device to a Mac, signing them, and then copying them back to the device. The Samba executables that require signing are located in /usr/samba/sbin/ and /usr/samba/bin/. Once these files are properly signed, the password settings should function correctly.
