Quiz Game with Attitude and Personality

Creative Ninjas has introduced BORLS 1.0, their quiz game with attitude and personality for the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. Billed as "Possibly the most annoying and loudest quiz ever!" the game features a zany emcee, whose cartoon-voice comments on the action are accompanied by distracting noises while the player is trying to read and answer questions. Wrong answers produce greater noise, right answers less. For one or more players, this quiz game tests more than knowledge.

BORLS is an acronym for Brains Over Really Loud Sounds, and the player quickly discovers that maintaining the ability to think is as important as finding the correct answer to the multiple choice questions. As the high-pitched voice of the game's Master of Ceremonies taunts the player (i.e. "tic-toc, tic-toc, tic-toc!"), layers of additional mechanical noises, cheers, explosions, static, etc., are added each time the player gives an incorrect answer in the quiz (over 50 different sounds). And to add to the pressure, there is a time limit for choosing each answer, and the player loses one of his "lives" for each incorrect answer; having lost all his "lives" the game ends.

For a more relaxed game the volume can be switched off, but when the player starts a new game he is asked, "Would you like to earn more points and have the annoying noises on?" Besides the volume switch, the app includes an iPhone odometer display allowing the player to answer questions from All Categories or a specific category: Sport & Leisure, TV & Film, Language & Communication, Food & Drink, Pop & Music, Miscellaneous, Fun & Games, Geography, History, Literature, and Science. There are over 3,000 questions included, with free additions in future updates.

A particularly innovative feature is the submit function, where a player can submit a BORL of his own. After identifying the category, he is prompted to type in his question (100 characters or fewer), and then four answer choices, including the correct one (30 character each or fewer). Witty trivia buffs may find cyber-immortality as a BORL contributor, as their questions go viral through the online trivia community.
