Beamed enables players to directly manipulate colored light beams by placing prisms, mirrors and beamsplitters within an optical maze. Each level contains one red, one green and one blue laser and an array of colored jewels sprinkled throughout a maze. By dragging optical elements from the toolbar, players combine, split and bounce colored light beams through the maze to match the color of each jewel.
"Beamed lets people learn about the physics of light and color combination intuitively, through play" says Patrick Keith-Hynes, CTO and founder of glimmerWave software. "I created Beamed as a simplified version of the optical tables found in university physics labs." The red, green and blue light beams instantly combine onscreen as the player moves mirrors and prisms about, creating beautiful and often unexpected patterns of light.
Beamed comes with an integrated hint system to help players navigate its increasingly challenging mazes. If you find yourself stuck on a level a tap of the hint button will correctly position one of your pieces and will even drag additional optical elements from the toolbar. Beamed supports Game Center leader boards and will award points for each level that a player completes without the use of hints. Although Beamed supports all models of the iPhone and iPod touch the graphics are particularly beautiful on a Retina Display.
Beamed comes with 40 Free levels and an additional 100 levels are available for $0.99. The paid upgrade also removes all ad banners.
