The iPhone Dev-Team has posted a screenshot teasing the new version of PwnageTool that will bring custom firmware bundles and jailbreaking to most iDevices.
The upcoming PwnageTool release will support the iPhone 3G, 3GS, 4, the iPod 2G, 3G, 4G, the iPad, and the Apple TV 2.
We will let you know as soon as it becomes available.
Update: The new version of PwnageTool changes Expert Mode so that you always pick the ipsw manually instead of using Spotlight.
PwnageTool will also auto install SSH during the AppleTV 2G jailbreak.

To anyone asking, this does not unlock the newest baseband, if you upgraded your iphone to the latest version and did not use tinyumbrella to preserve the 1.59.00 baseband, there is no current way to unlock your iphone on any other baseband, pwnageTool is still only another easy way to jailbreak your phone, it will cook for you custom firmware so when you restore its already ulock and already jailbreaked, because the custom firmware pwnagetool will create is already pre-jailbreaked, for those people waiting for the unlick for the latest baseband sho should wait, while there are reports that hacker sherif hasim has already crashed the newest baseband, which will most likely to unlock the newest baseband. This is only a safe way to jailbreak if your having trouble using tinyumbrella and greenpoison or limerain jailbreaks. If your like me who got stucked because the iphone 4 wont restore unless your on dfu an you depend on an unlock, you should use pwnagetool because tinyumbrella wont detect an iphone on dfu mode.
@MuscleNerd One question which would be a great time to answer :) will PT support the 3GS with new bootrom? Thx

@sfaragalla yep, that's one of the big 3 reasons. 3g, 3gs, i4 (2g is still there but covered by older versions :) )

So does it means that its going to unlock new 02.10.04???
There is no unlock currently for your baseband. There are some exploit found by the community but an unlock is not likely untill after 4.2 firmware is released next month.
If you have a Pc download vmware form a torren.tz web site and download a mac os x virtual machine, it works perfect for me, it even updates from apple with 0 problems and the jailbreaks work flawlessly....
They should better release it instead of annoy everyone, who is waiting for a safe Method for the 3G... The Phone got unusable from beginning of the iOS 4.0 story..
Nobody is answering that question. As far as I'm concerned, there are only two reasons to jailbreak... To unlock and to tether (without exorbitant fees), neither of which I am dependent on. Without an unlock I will not bother. The fact of the matter is that the iPhone just works better without jailbreaking.
I agree. I have used Pwnage on the 2G, 3G and 3GS, and I needed the jailbreak to get the unlock. Thanks to all the kind hackers who have worked to make this possible for all of us.
We did not create the current expectations; the constant posting of "any day", "soon", "we have another jailbreak", etc. has left some of us grinding our teeth. No cause to complain. We are grateful. Now, can we please have the unlock, or at least a definite release date? Thanks.
it will not unlock 02.10.04 baseband but it will help to create a custom firmware including the old the old one that is 1.59.00 baseband. anyone who has upgraded to IOS 4.1 with the 02.10.04 baseband they have to wait for an unlock to come .. hope that it will be released soon....
To icurry, yea i agree you dont need to jailbreak, but. If you havent tried using facetime on 3g, or use tweaks like infinifolder, or folderenhancer, and all thr good stuff jailbreaking, you wouldnt mind, its not only about free apps, its all the tweaks that you can cstomize your iphone 4 with, imagine rotating your homescreen with screenrotator? Ever heard of that, and lock individual app with lockdown, i like jailbreaking coz i can customize my phone the way i want it and not the way apple wants my iphone to be.
