I need some help. I have an iphone 4 with 4.1 iOS and baseband 01.59.00. it is currently jailbroken and unlock. I have some questions. Can I use Pwnage to upgrade to 4.3.1 and jailbreak and preserve the baseband? Or do I use TinyUmbrella. If I use TinyUmbrella, it will be jailbroken as well? Thanks so much for your help.

Same question here. Thankyou!

Yes, PwnageTool is able to upgrade the firmware in jailbroken mode without updating your baseband so you can keep the unlock. Tinyumbrella can not jailbreak. It only updates your iphone in non-jailbreak mode without baseband update. You would need PwnageTool anyways so it is pointless to use TU.

Have to reiterate any earlier post regarding iphone 4 Pwnaged with 4.3, updating to 4.3.1. Sadly the same issue happened with 4.2.1. Cydia app crashes, and on 4.3.1, the signal bars are locked to 1 bar. I can make calls though. I have preserved the original baseband so I can unlock. For the dev team and jay freeman to go this far and not have it work properly seems a bit silly at this point. Perhaps wait for the next update or a fix. Currently, after scouring the web, I can't find any MAc OSX solutions to these issues.

I recovered my signal bar issue - I had the same problem after updating to 4.3.1 with pwnagetool and my springboard was either up or down a little hiding half of the status bar on top, or text on the bottom. Being fed up with a sluggish phone I first went to official apple FW ( i don't need unlock, and can unlock officially after 1 year anyway ) The next thing was that I missed my cydia apps like SBsettings and Call Counter 3 ( great stuff!) I first upgraded to 4.3.2 with pwnage ( great stuff dev-team and saurik!!! ) and found out that when I install additional packages in pwnage Cydia wont work - don't install the packages with pwnage and Test CYDIA before a restore of your data, worked for me. And also found out that APTBackup is the cause of my springboard issues - so back to square one and did a manual install for my CYDIA apps - works fine now - hope it helps U2!

Any word on fixing the fact that CYDIA is not opening and the signal bar issue? Please respond ASAP. Was on previously AT&T jailbroken/unlocked iPhone 4 with 4.0 firmware. Using the PWNAGE tool upgraded to 4.3.1 and kept my baseband at 01.59.00 successfully, but without CYDIA, this is pointless. Any word???

Having the exact same issue. Have had the same issue on any update since 4.1. Actually went back to 4.1 AGAIN because Cydia won't load and the signal bar was locked on 1 bar. Please advise if anyone figures this out.

I don't get it... I follow these instructions and lo and behold, my iphone 4 is jailbroken.... with STOCK software on it! where's all my music, my sms, my settings my apps my bookmarks and wallpapers? It's like a brand new phone and I have to go install all of that software again? Maybe I'm doing it wrong, but the only way I seem to be able to get all of my stuff back is if I restore from itunes - using the backup of "my" iphone. Which restores back into non-jailbroken state of course! am I doing something wrong? Shouldn't I be applying the PwnageTool to MY backup file instead of the one I download? How would I do that?

UR thinkn too much. After u finish the JB, do a restore from backup in itunes (right click on ur phone). Or, just sync with the same iphone profile u had previously. As long as u dont restore or update, u are not over righting ur JB. Done

I have the same problem. No signal; I used PwnageTool on Iphone 4.3.1 for the Jailbreak. My phone was brought from Hong Kong so its factory unlocked anyway. What should I do? Thanks Eben

Where is the Activate phone tab? Is that in the phone setting or should I rebuild and re do the Jailbreak and uncheck that box in PwnageTool? Thanks Eben

Just the same: Factory unlocked iphone, so don't need to hacktivate. After jailbreak everyting seems to work fine but just one bar of signal.

I just upgraded and FaceTime is saying waiting for activation. I have an officially unlocked iPhone 4. Is facetime broken with this jailbreak?

For activate FaceTime you need fix the push with pushdoctor in Cydia.

Seems to be working fine on my iphone4. No errors during restore, Cydia is installed and working but the repositories are slow probably because everybody is hitting the servers. My baseband appears to be left untouched at 1.59 (was previously at firmware 4.0). A fresh reboot is works fine - untethered.

my phone is stuck at the last bits of the restore stage. the progress bar is almost at the end. then it just stays there. i waited for around 10 minutes. i tried 3 times already and all with the same result. so i've right now a non-working iphone 4. i tried with redsnow and also was unable to restore to 4.3.1. i had a jailbroken iphone 4 with 4.2.1 (via pwnage) before i started all this.

my restore process is taking ages, its been 20mins and still the restore bar is 4% away from finishing, using tiny umbrella as my host file is editied so normally i get restore couldnt complete due to no connection to apple server, but tiny umbrella works fine, did my ipad only wait for my phone to finish, cydia is only slow due to the amount of ppl jailbreaking 2day, there must be millions using cydia reason its will be slow for the next 2 days and might be hard to connect too, i had to try 8 times before i finally got into cydia quickly added the main package i needed and will leave it off till the weekend before i install the other packages
