Google and Samsung are partnering to produce a 10.1-inch tablet that will rival the iPad, reports CNET.

The tablet will have a display resolution of 2,560x1,600 and 299 PPI (pixels per inch). That's more pixels per inch than the iPad which has a 2,048x1536, 9.7-inch, 264 PPI display.

"It's going to be a high-end device," said Richard Shim, an analyst at NPD DisplaySearch -- in contrast with Google's $199 Nexus 7 and upcoming $99 tablet.

"They'll partner with Samsung and cobrand it with Samsung," Shim said.

Google partnered with Asus on the Nexus 7 tablet. No word on when this device might be available.
