Apple has released iOS 26.2 and iPadOS 26.2 for all users. The update follows a few days of testing after the second Release Candidate went out to developers, bringing functional changes to several core apps and new customization options for the Lock Screen.
The standout visual change is a new control for the Lock Screen time. You can now adjust the opacity of the Liquid Glass material, using a slider to shift between a transparent look and a more solid appearance. This refines the 'Tinted' option that arrived with iOS 26.1.
Several built-in apps get navigation improvements. Apple Podcasts now generates chapters automatically and lets you follow referenced shows directly from the player. Apple Music adds support for offline lyrics and moves the Favorite Songs playlist to Top Picks. The Apple News Today feed has also been updated with section links at the top to jump straight to specific topics like Sports or Business.
Productivity updates include alarms for Reminders, which allow urgent tasks to trigger a persistent notification complete with snooze support. AirDrop adds a verification code option for transfers with people outside your contacts, enhancing security. The update also brings tables to Freeform, providing a way to structure text and images on the canvas.
For users in the U.S., Enhanced Safety Alerts now provide detailed information and maps for imminent threats like natural disasters. Other changes include new sorting filters in the Games library, multipack accessory pairing for the Home app, and an accessibility option to flash the screen for alerts.
