Karelia Software has released version 1.1.3 of the Karelia iMedia Browser, a free utility for Mac OS X that adds the familiar "media browser" experience to just about any application. Version 1.1.3 enhances searching, now including searches of keywords and comments in iPhoto libraries, and fixes an issue with redundant search results from iTunes.
Version 1.1.3 also supports much larger iPhoto libraries, fixing an issue in the previous version where thumbnails would show up blank in some circumstances. Sorting media by file name has been improved to match how Finder sorts numbered files. Version 1.1.3 includes a number of speed-ups and bug fixes thanks to contributions from the iMedia open-source community.
A stand-alone utility, the Karelia iMedia Browser lets users quickly and easily browse and drag photos, music, movies, and bookmarks from their Pictures, Music, and Movies folders and from applications including iPhoto, Aperture, iTunes, GarageBand, and several leading web browsers. In addition to being used in Sandvox, Karelia's award-winning website development application, the iMedia framework is used by a number of developers around the world in a number of well-known third-party applications, including MarsEdit, FotoMagico, Skitch, HoudahGeo, iStar Composer, MemoryMiner, and many more.
Version 1.1.3 can be downloaded from Karelia's website. It is a Universal Binary for PowerPC and Intel architectures, and requires Mac OS X 10.4 "Tiger" or 10.5 "Leopard."
