iPhone 5S Rumored to Double the Pixels of the iPhone 5

Posted May 28, 2013 at 2:48pm by iClarified
A new report from Wei Feng Network via WeiPhone has Apple doubling the pixels of the iPhone 5 for its next generation device.

According to sources, iPhone 5S (or iPhone 6) or to have a more narrow screen frame, is now preparing, will ship in September. In addition, the product also has a screen 1.5 million pixels, compared to nearly 730,000 iPhone 5 the number of pixels, if not the screen size continues to increase, the resolution will be greatly improved.

Doubling the pixels does not equate to doubling the resolution of the display. To get to 1.5 million pixels, Apple would have to increase the resolution by 44% in each dimension. This appears very unlikely.

However, if Apple is planning to increase the size of the display on the next generation iPhone it may need to introduce a resolution that doesn't translate nicely from previous generation devices. This would be a difficult transition for developers; however, given the popularity of large screen devices, Apple may not have a choice.

Typically, Apple has introduced minor physical changes the year after a major redesign. Thus the iPhone 5S is widely expected to retain the same physical appearance.

Why do some of you get worked up on rumours? Just tell yourself to wait until the actual product is launched before you stress yourselves out.

Why double the pixels? I thought "retina" was the maximum the human eye could detect and anything past that was useless... If the screen size is bigger, I understand, but if they keep the same size then all this adds is useless PPI. Apple, I was hoping to get pulled back to you with the 5S, but now I am more glad I bought the HTC One Dev Edition.

you are not one to decide but marketing. As Stevo buddy says: “If you can't make it good, at least make it look good.” Thanks God there is Samsung so we have smartphone we can actually use.

Because if Apple decides to increase the size of the display the number of pixels per inch will go down. If it goes down too far it will no longer be a 'retina' display.

Also, a 'retina' display is based on a distance from your eyes. The iPhone is a 'retina' display at around 11 inches away. Hold it any closer and it no longer qualifies as being 'retina'. Of course, that is all based on someone with normal eyesight. If you have better vision than 20/20, you need more ppi.

I rather have an iPhone 4S than any Samsung because of the cheap feel it has. HTC One and Nexus 4 ... and also Sony Xperia Z are the only quality Android devices.
