Apple to Give Retail Employees Free iBook Titles to Help Prepare for OS X Mavericks

During Apple store's quarterly meeting today, Apple will begin providing its employees with free iBooks titles next week -- an initiative called "iBooks Discovery" internally, reports 9to5mac.

Apple is providing their employees paid titles for free as a way to help familiarize themselves with iBooks, since OS X Mavericks will be the first Mac OS to feature an iBooks app. Apple is hoping the initiative will help employees be more experienced with iBooks as they introduce the service to other users.

Apple also launched a similar program for App Store apps called Apps Discovery, where retail employees received certain paid apps for free in an effort to familiarize themselves with the App Store and other applications.

A new iBooks redesign is also rumored with a new icon surfacing in iOS 7 betas and even at the Apple internal quarterly store meeting.

Hmmm... what new icon in iOS 7 betas? I am running iOS 7 Beta 3 and I have the standard icon. Also, app icons are app specific, not iOS specific. So if the icon changes on the beta, it'd change on iOS 6 as well.

Only third-party apps work the way you described. Apple still has the same iOS 6 app icons for iBooks and all the other Apple apps, while at the same time introducing the new iOS 7 apps for those on that operating system.

Shame they could've put an icon switch for ios 7 whether anyone would simply swith from ios 6 icons to 7 icons or around without swithing the opperating systems. Like on/off switch for example.
