Stefan Esser, a security researcher known as i0n1c, is alleging that someone close to the evad3rs stole a jailbreak exploit and sold it to a private buyer. I0n1c is the hacker behind the untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.3.2. He also jailbroke the iPad 3 on iOS 5.1.
Yesterday morning Esser tweeted, "So apparently someone around the @evad3rs stole a jailbreak from them and sold it to a private buyer."
When asked by iDesignTimes about the allegation, evad3rs member pod2g said, "That's complete bullsh--." He also noted that "the jailbreak stuff is moving on, but slowly."
Esser responded saying, "LOL so a jailbreak news site asked the @evad3rs if someone stole their JB and they say no. How would they know if someone copied it?"
"The only way the @evad3rs could be sure that no one stole their JB exploits is if they have nothing at all to steal."
i0n1c also emphasized that he said someone around the team stole it, not a member themselves.
"I said someone around the @evad3rs stole it. I never said it was a member."
Even if the a jailbreak was stolen from the evad3rs and sold to a private buyer, it's unlikely that the buyer would be looking to share it with Apple. However, if a jailbroken device is found in the wild, Apple could examine it to close the vulnerabilities for future firmware versions.

Let's say they had a jailbreak for iOS 7 or 6.13 and up and it was stolen, I'd say screw it, release it, and then the sale of the stolen jailbreak becomes worthless and the buyer comes back after the seller. Personally I think it's BS and they have nothing worth stealing or posting.
Go android and your worries are over. No longer waiting for jailbreak to come which is what most people hate. But my reason is that apple products are shit anyway, toooooooo restrictive.
Exactly. Why be happy (but somewhat restricted) when you can tear your hair out (as freely as you like). Android is such a wonderful platform. Developers agree. Not.
Yeah, go get an Android and get virus's, trojans, malware, easily hacked, credit card information stolen off NFC... because Apple products are shit says I. Since I can't afford an iPhone and hate Apple products and have no life so I spend all my time wandering the web looking for Apple related news and then post comments that subtly hint at how pathetic my life is since I can't afford an iPhone so I shit on everything except the crap I have. Derrrrrrrrrrrrr
Stop all your LIEs damn fools! We all know you guys CANT JB no more and now your pulling this stunt so about next week say sorry guys we wont come out with JB cause of this
I miss some of the features of jail breaking. As time passes I am starting to look at phones other than apple.
Apple continues to provide a stripped down OS and the prove points are not equaling the cost. Jail breaking provided some of the items to mak the OS more productive and fun. However, I feel windows platforms are moving in the right direction of providing a single device to meet the tablet and PC needs. The third generation will surely define it's success and future.
I hope the jailbreak community can stop stabbing each other in the back and show that they are truly dedicated to improving the experience without the soap opera genre.
Are you an idiot? Where do you think the App Store came from? Where do you think sb settings came from which led to the bottom bar in iOS 7?? Where do you think the flashlight came from? How about multitasking apps? How about copy and paste?
All original Ideas and improvements since iOS 1.14 are from the jailbreak community.
As apple added new versions they stole more ideas and made the system harder to break through dispite all their improvements coming from the jailbreak community.
You're trippin',man. If YOU had been around the scene long enough, you would know that most of those features were on the Palm Pilot long before the iPhone existed; and they were on other platforms long before they were on the Palm Pilot. Nothing particularly creative from the JailBreak community.
Usually, when 'private' sources buy these jailbreak exploits, they're used by organizations like the Police and NSA to install things onto people's private phones so that they can access users' private data.
Virtually every police deparatment in the country (the bigger ones at least) pay private companies for access to 'software' that allows them to examine data on phones of suspects (often those not even accused of a crime).
