Apple to Release 12.9-inch iPad By End of Q3 2014 at Earliest?

Apple will release a 12.9-inch iPad by the end of Q3 at the earliest, according to a new report from DigiTimes.

The site expects Apple and Samsung to top tablet vendors in 2014 with shipments of 80-90 million and 60-70 million units, respectively.

Samsung's recent launch of its 12.2-inch model is expected to propel Apple to accelerate development of large-size iPads. Market sources indicated that Apple is likely to release a 12.9-inch model by the end of the third quarter at the earliest.

Samsung is allegedly working to launch more Galaxy Lite models with prices going as low as $129. Apple has reportedly asked production partners and component suppliers to develop new 7.9-inch and 9.7-inch tablets.

The same site previously reported that Apple would launch a larger iPad in October 2014, to target North America's educational market. It's said that Quanta Computer will be tapped to produce the tablet.

It will be interesting to see if other manufacturers follow Apple's lead with larger tablets.

Samsung often rushes products to market quickly, like their watch. I hope Apple takes more time to refine their 12.9-inch iPad before release.

Face the facts, are costs going to save them any longer, power is what matters, look at the benchmarks, you call it best any longer?

the iWatch doesn't even exist! Its made up by the community. The Gear was not a fail because of the battery, That thing needed less features (it has to much) and at last 2Weeks battery. That made it a failure. The Note 10.1 and Pro 12.2 are perfect and complete tablets not rushed products.

What actually needed is to pack more battery pwr lighter weight products. Not larger tablets like TVs etc

Actually, a letter-size tablet would be ideal if you're to replace textbooks.

I don't mind them releasing a bigger iPad as long as this doesn't mean the sunfish tablet idea due to size.
