Apple is reportedly planning to launch a larger iPhone in May 2014 and a larger iPad in October 2014, according to a DigiTimes report.
The larger iPad is said to target North America's educational market.
Apple's large-size tablet will be manufactured by Quanta Computer, and was originally expected to adopt either 12.9- or 13.3-inch panels, with recent rumors indicating that 12.9-inch has a better chance to be picked, the sources noted.
The larger iPhone is said to use a 20nm processor manufactured by TSMC.
No further details were provided; however, this is not the first time larger iPad and larger iPhone rumors have surfaced.
Just last month the KoreaTimes reported that Retina displays for a 12.9-inch iPad are already in production.
Additionally, a recent report said Apple is testing a 4.9-inch iPhone 6 and a larger version of the iPhone 5c. Also a Bloomberg report claimed that the company will release 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch iPhones with displays that curve downward.

1) Its easy to put a big screen on a phone. Remember the reason why Android phones have a big screen: It was because their SoC/LTE and Android was not power efficient. They needed larger batteries = they used bigger screens.
2) When you use more pixels on a screen than you eye can see: its just retarded. That is typical PC-nerd thinking that 1001 is better than 1000. Drawbacks are less performance, battery and hotter/larger phones.
3) If you have a larger screen/more pixels you need an OS + development tools that support it. Just look at Android apps on phones bigger then 4.5 inches. If you have a 5 inch phone, the apps are optimised for 4.5. Again typical PC thinking: Bigger is better even if you get exactly the same resolution in the app.
Apple also have a problem. They know that no company can manufacture a small phone with the same quality as Apple. This is a logical loop that they need to come out from since uses wants a larger screen.
Since there are no leaked parts for a new iphone, it won't be released in may. Iphone is also a software platform, not hardware. Apple have never released an iPhone without a new iOS. Thats why we can pin down iPhone release date about 3-6 month before release with iOS betas/internal/external.
