Apple has officially released tvOS 26.2 for the Apple TV 4K and Apple TV HD. The update focuses on making the Apple TV app easier to share, adding more flexible profile options for guests and better controls for younger viewers.
The standout addition here is the ability to create profiles for friends and family without needing an Apple Account. Previously, adding a new user required a full Apple ID sign-in. Now, you can set up a local profile that gets its own separate Watchlist and personalized recommendations, letting guests explore movies and shows without messing up your main algorithm.
Apple has also refined the experience for kids. The TV app will now automatically surface age-suitable content across connected video providers for child profiles. Parents can also set specific restrictions on these profiles to limit access based on age ratings.
This release follows the major launch of tvOS 26, which brought the Liquid Glass design language to the big screen.
You can update your Apple TV by navigating to Settings > System > Software Updates > Update Software.
