The Worst Most Insecure Password is No Longer 'Password' [Chart]

Posted January 21, 2014 at 2:52am by iClarified
In 2013, 'password' fell from the number one spot as the most insecure password, according to data compiled by SplashData. The firm looked at various lists of hacked accounts to create the worst passwords of the year.

So which password was the very worst? That distinction was given to '123456' which moved up a spot from the number two position.

Rounding out the top five was '12345678', 'qwerty', and 'abc123'. You can see the twenty five worst passwords in the chart below. If you are using any of those we strongly recommend you change your password as soon as possible.

It's pretty obvious that the only data used for this chart was adobe's hacked account data that was leaked and made available for download. Still interesting though.

You don't know. Perhaps it lacks self assurance? Poor 123456.
