Recent regulatory filings in China appear to reveal the battery capacities for Apple's upcoming iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, highlighting a substantial upgrade for the larger model. The 3C certification database entries outline the specifications for both the U.S. and Chinese variants of the devices, continuing Apple's practice of using slightly different battery sizes for eSIM and physical SIM models.
Shared by leaker Digital Chat Station on Weibo, the data shows the iPhone 18 Pro Max receiving a substantial capacity bump. The U.S. model, which relies entirely on eSIM, is listed at 5,567 mAh. The Chinese version, which retains a physical SIM card slot, features a 5,391 mAh battery. Since U.S. iPhones have been eSIM-only since the iPhone 14, Apple is able to use some of the space previously occupied by the SIM tray for a slightly larger battery. If accurate, these figures represent an increase of nearly 500 mAh over the equivalent iPhone 17 Pro Max models, which feature 5,088 mAh and 4,823 mAh batteries respectively.
The figures for the standard iPhone 18 Pro closely match earlier supply chain leaks tracked in June. The U.S. variant of the 18 Pro features a 4,288 mAh cell, while the physical SIM model comes in at 4,056 mAh. These numbers represent modest gains of 36 mAh and 68 mAh over last year's equivalents.
If accurate, the newly surfaced regulatory filings point to an even larger battery than earlier rumors suggested. Previous reports estimated the iPhone 18 Pro Max would feature capacities closer to 5,425 mAh, while the latest information lists the U.S. model at 5,567 mAh.
