Apple has officially released macOS Tahoe 26.6.2 and visionOS 26.6.1, bringing a substantial wave of security patches to the Mac and Apple Vision Pro.
The macOS update carries build number 25G83, while the visionOS release arrives as build 23O780. Both roll out concurrently with iOS 26.6.1 to ensure devices across the ecosystem remain protected against recently discovered vulnerabilities.
Apple published a detailed security support document for macOS 26.6.2 highlighting fixes for dozens of exploits. The patches address severe flaws in ImageIO that could lead to arbitrary code execution or denial-of-service attacks when processing maliciously crafted images. The system kernel also received multiple updates to fix out-of-bounds reads and memory corruption issues that allowed apps to unexpectedly terminate the system or read restricted memory.
WebKit accounts for the majority of the documented fixes. Processing malicious web content could previously lead to memory corruption, unexpected Safari crashes, or leaked sensitive data. Apple resolved these vulnerabilities through improved memory handling, state management, and bounds checking. Several of the WebKit bugs were discovered and reported by security researchers at OpenAI and Cisco Talos.
This release drops shortly after Apple pushed out macOS Tahoe 26.6.1 to address an actively exploited flaw in the Screen Sharing feature. While Apple has not outlined the specific security content for visionOS 26.6.1, the headset firmware likely includes applicable WebKit and kernel mitigations shared across Apple's platforms.
Mac owners can download the software over the air by navigating to the General menu within System Settings and selecting Software Update.
