Apple's macOS Tahoe 26.7 release candidate contains codenames, feature flags, and other clues pointing to unreleased Apple products, according to code discovered by MacRumors. The references span future iPhones, Macs, iPads, AirPods, home accessories, and more, many of them matching products previously rumored or reported.
Home accessories Many of the strongest clues point to home products Apple has reportedly been developing. J490 and J491 appear to identify the upcoming smart home hub, with J490 believed to be the base version and J491 the wall-mountable model. A B525 identifier is also believed to represent an updated HomePod mini.
Another identifier, J229Architecture, has been linked to a rumored security camera or another home accessory. The build also mentions Pebble, believed to be the codename for the homeOS software expected to power the hub. MacRumors also found HomeAccessory17,2 and HomeAccessory17,3. While their identities remain unconfirmed, the identifiers have been linked to the wall-mounted Home Hub and Apple's tabletop robot.
The software also includes Rose Pink, Silver, Space Gray, and Starlight color strings for a home accessory, along with an audio_accessory_visual_reasoning string that could relate to the Home Hub or another camera-enabled device.
Audio B790 identifies a separate project involving camera-equipped AirPods. These are believed to be distinct from the B798 camera-equipped AirPods expected in 2027 and could arrive as soon as September. An accompanying string references a failed image stream for the left earbud, while AirPodsPro1,4, AirPod3,5, and Beats identifiers B518 and B522 suggest Apple is testing additional audio hardware.
iPhone MacRumors also found iPhone identifiers V62, V63, V64, V67, and V68, matching the identifiers first discovered in iOS 27 beta 5. They correspond to the iPhone Air 2, iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, standard iPhone 18, and the foldable iPhone Ultra. The Pro models and Ultra are expected in September, with the Air 2 and standard iPhone 18 following in spring 2027.
Mac and iPad J804 is believed to represent the entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro expected to feature Apple's M6 chip, while J833 and J834 have been linked to new iMac models. The K114 and K116 series could refer to the OLED touchscreen MacBook Pro models rumored for later this year.
For the iPad, J510 and J511 align with the reported OLED iPad mini. Another identifier, N109, has been associated with either a next-generation Vision Pro or the lower-cost headset that was reportedly canceled last year.
Apple TV remote and Apple Intelligence The release candidate also references ATVRemote1,5, suggesting a new Apple TV remote is in development. It also contains Writing Tools strings describing temporary content-safety restrictions, consistent with Apple's upcoming Apple Intelligence expansion in China.
Unknown identifiers The release candidate also includes several unidentified model numbers, including A3436 through A3441, A3456, A3457, A3465, A3529 through A3533, A3543, A3577, and a series of Device1,8234 and similar identifiers. Apple hasn't announced these products, and identifiers found in pre-release software don't always correspond to shipping hardware.
