Virgin Mobile has discounted the unsubsidized iPhone 5s to $440 and the unsubsidized iPhone 5c to $360, notes 9to5Mac.
The company is taking an extra 20% off its pricing for a limited time bettering its previous discount of 10%. Apple's normal retail pricing is $649 for the 16GB iPhone 5s and $549 for the 16GB iPhone 5c.
VM USA iphones can not be UNLOCKED (as of Jan 30, 2014). Anyone claiming they "read somewhere on the net that VM unlocks", please verify which "nation" VM is offering that service. Chances are it's NOT Virgin Mobile USA. VM USA is operated by Sprint. Rumors have it VM will be merged with Boost in Q1 of 2014.
Not unlocked, no you can't, only with Virgin Mobile which is the same as Sprint, not bad service for $50 a month all inclusive, 2.5 GB LTE data throttle is ok for most average users.
As Alex mentioned, these phones are not unlockable. They work on CDMA, not GSM (eg AT&T). Virgin was bought by Sprint & piggybacks on the Sprint network, but does get lower priority over Sprint users. I've been using VM for 12 years & it's fine for me. I'm on a GS3 now but 4G access is spotty, so don't expect LTE very much. Can't beat the monthly cost anywhere for what you get.
