MRR Software has announced the release of Syrinx 2.0, a major new release of a Twitter client based on two ideals: customization and efficient workflow. Syrinx is a full-featured native OS X application designed to make your tweeting easier than ever.
The timeline for this new major release has been completely rewritten to make it faster and more lightweight than ever before. Searching, scrolling and viewing conversations in Syrinx 2.0 is now instantaneous even after receiving thousands of tweets. This same timeline efficiency has been applied to the Friends list, allowing you to locate and manage your contacts faster.
Syrinx has always been able to search your personal timeline, but 2.0 introduces the ability to search all of Twitter. Multiple search windows allows users to track multiple search terms and hash-tags with ease as they auto-update, accumulating new results in easy to follow timelines.
The bookmark, the better way to track unread tweets introduced with Syrinx, can now be saved between launches, making it easier to keep track of your new tweets. Rather than the tedium of marking each tweet read, the bookmark allows you to mark the last tweet you read, just like a bookmark in a book. All tweets after the bookmark are shown with a customizable background color to make new tweets easily recognizable.
Other new features in Syrinx 2.0 include URL shortening, retweeting, tweet deletion and even more ways to customize the look of your timeline. As with all of Syrinx's functions, keyboard bindings are set for all these new options, allowing you to navigate and interact with your timeline of tweets without ever leaving the keyboard.
Syrinx 2.0 requires Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) and a Twitter account which is free. Syrinx is free, but donations are accepted through the website.
