Mac-Chi Releases WhoPaste 1.1

Mac-Chi announces WhoPaste 1.1, an extensive update to their "contact grabber" utility for Mac OS X. WhoPaste now supports creating contacts in Google Contacts, Entourage, or the Mac OS X Address Book. Version 1.1 extends the power of WhoPaste to spreadsheets allowing for the extraction of multiple contacts in a single keystroke. This update also sports many enhancements to the underlying policies including the extraction of embedded links from rich text fields.

WhoPaste users can create contact records in any of the supported data stores by simply copying text to the clipboard and then invoking a single user-configurable hot key.

WhoPaste 1.1 adds:
* Google Contacts as a data storage option
- contacts may be added to the Friends, Family, or Coworkers and up to 3 personal groups
* Microsoft Entourage as a data storage option
- contacts may be added to as many as 3 projects and assigned up to 3 categories
* Spreadsheet support for extracting multiple contacts
- supports selecting rows or cell ranges in spreadsheets
- recognizes tab-delimited or comma separated data
- review window fully supports editing individual records before saving
- search support in the review window allows for sophisticated processing of partial results
- selected items can be individually saved or removed from the review list
- defaults allow for handling single or double name fields and street address fields
* Optional case conversion added for all data extractions - supports upper, proper, and lower case
* Optionally format phone numbers using Address Book formatting regardless of data storage option
* Support for embedded links in rich text fields
* Numerous improvements to underlying extraction policies


WhoPaste 1.0:
* User configurable hot key for instant access from any application
* Optionally add a citation to the source of information
* Optionally add the contact to as many as three Mac OS X Address Book groups
* Optionally add complete source data to contact notes
* Optionally add creation date to contact notes
* Recognizable data fields include: name, organization, job title, phone numbers, email addresses, website URLs, postal addresses
* Preferences for default area code, city, state, postal code, and country
* Extracted contact data is presented in a window for user review before storing information
* Widgets in review window for swapping data positions and for adding or subtracting default values

The full version still costs only $10 (USD), with a limited demo available. Version 1.1 is offered as a free update to existing users.
