iPhone 3G Demo Units Gone from Apple Stores?

Clayton Morris noted on his blog that the Demo Units in Apple Store were beginning to disappear. This could be a good sign that Apple may indeed release the new iPhone Monday.

iPhones 3G are missing across multiple tables and multiple displays at my local Apple store. When I asked where they were I was told "we're out." Does that mean we'll see a new iPhone on Monday? Perhaps or it could mean "we're out... and we are waiting for our next order to restock them." Either way, it was odd. I've never seen even one blank space on an iPhone display table let alone nine!
