GeoHot has managed to decrypt the RAMDisk for the iPhone 3GS and has posted the key.
Once the vfdecrypt key is found it will be possible to use the key with the 'vfdecrypt' tool to decrypt the main filesystem DMG found in the .ipsw file.

What does this mean?
1. We are now one step closer towards JAILBREAKING the iPhone 3GS
2. It would help us create the custom firmware (bypass baseband updates, install Cydia, etc) for the 3GS
3. The soft unlock for the iPhone 3G (Ultrasn0w) can now be tested on the 3GS. If the same vulnerability exists in the 3GS baseband too, the payload injection could successfully unlock the iPhone 3GS too.
