Apple is preparing to update its Reuse and Recycling Program to accept non-Apple smartphones, including Android devices, in exchange for gift cards to be used to purchase iPhones, reports 9to5Mac. Similar to how the program currently works, Apple Retail Store employees will assess the device's trade-in value by evaluating its cosmetic and functional condition.
The new program will begin in the coming weeks, following extensive training programs for retail store employees that will begin later this week. Apple employees will be able to transfer address book contacts from the rival smartphones to the iPhones, but other data will have to be moved by customers…
While Apple's trade-in program is convenient for customers, it typically doesn't offer the highest amount for devices it takes in. Back in August, before the release of the iPhone 6, Amazon was found to offer the highest price for your used iPhone. If Apple does launch a trade-in program for Android devices, those users may want to shop their device around before trading in at Apple.

Does an android device actually have any value? How will the trade-in pricing work?

It depends. The newer the phone, the less cheap it may be. Maybe.

I hope you mean cheaper androids, like Blu, because Samsungs have become very high quality and android os is anything but cheap, it can so way more than your precious sandboxef iOS

iOS is anything but limited. Heck I can get the same android features but do anything on it that takes customizable to any way for anyone, thereby this sandbox is the world of jailbreaking where I can get any feature and not have it on there automatically with space taken up, I have the option of having my own gestures, style, and animations. Now that's quality control. And by cheap, I mean plastic cheap along with infections and NSA.
