Uninstalling the Facebook app and switching to Safari could save you up to 15% of iPhone battery life, according to tests conducted by The Guardian.
The site used an iPhone 6s Plus for a week without the Facebook app installed and recorded the battery life at 10:30pm each night. The phone was taken off the charger at 7:30am and used normally, accessing Facebook for the same amount of time, and for the same purposes, via its mobile website.
On average I had 15% more battery left by 10.30pm each day. I had also saved space, because at the point I had deleted the Facebook app it had consumed around 500MB in total combining the 111MB of the app itself and its cache on the iPhone. To make sure that this wasn’t an isolated incident, I also recruited several other Facebook-using iPhone owners to conduct a similar test. They all found similar results, with increased battery life when using Facebook in Safari having uninstalled the main Facebook iOS app.
Facebook says its investigating the matter. Have you noticed excessive battery drain with the Facebook app installed?

For me it was more like 30% difference over a day. I disabled background app refresh for Facebook, but somehow Facebook App ignores this setting and refreshes in the background!! Even if I rebooted and never opened the app it would suck up most of my battery life!! I don't trust Apple any more since they haven't fixed this bug, and I never trusted Facebook at all, this just confirms they are a bunch of crooks.

If you own an iPhone 6(s), get amp ware. It's a hand ranked case that only was made for the 6(s) so far, soon a 5s version, but this crank on the back of it I speak of keeps your battery charged so you'll never be left without a dead battery anymore or if you want, get a motion powered charger. Both of these innovative gadgets helped me.

Facebook's mobile site isn't that bad anymore. I uninstalled the app yesterday and freed up time and battery. Very pleased.

Might as well because this update is stuck and when trying to see Facebook under purchased/updates app it doesn't show up and on my home screen, it has the line traces of an iOS app and not the Facebook app itself (it's just white tile with lines on it) and forever stuck there since ai can't delete it. All I have to hope is for another update to fix this.

Go to "Settings" "General" and then "Storage & iCloud Usage" and then "Manage Storage" and delete the Facebook app from there.

Try shutting down and then restart your phone, it will probably disappear after restarting....

That's right. The sucker was appearing in the top of the list of battery consumption. Then I got rid of it.
