Pro Surfer Kai Lenny Puts iPhone 7's Water Resistance to the Test [Video]

Professional surfer Kai Lenny puts the new water resistant iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus to the test in a video for SquareTrade.

Lenny also tests the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. Both devices didn't survive ten minutes of surfing. The iPhone 7 handled thirty minutes of surfing just fine; however, the iPhone 7 Plus didn't fair as well. It had some serious audio problems at the test's completion.

Both the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are rating at IP67 which means they should withstand being under up to one meter of water for thirty minutes.

This doesn't prove anything... That being said, I find the mount he's using to hold the iPhones on the surfboard more interesting...

The difference is the water velocity is much greater when your surfing has you can see. The forces of water can easily enter the seals and soften them .

Why test with iPhone 6s when they are not waterproof or rated like that I understand for iPhone 7 salt water conduct electricity better etc.....i just don't get first part of the "test" or having any kind of phone while surfing.....hmmmm

These tests are just for our information. Now you knew that by surfing or similar water conditions, i7 can withstand for 30 mins and i7+ does not... we just need to update ourselves.... There are also shooting tests. If somebody says this test is ridiculous, what would you comment on shooting tests????

It claims water resistance, not water proof. Also, salt water is different than regular tap water.

I don't understand the purpose of these "test"... Apple already said what it is capable of.

At least this test made sense because it's actually testing how much it can hold up to see how accurate or better the phone can hold up, the others though are just done as a cheap tactics for making a like/view farm.
