Samsung Sends Customers a Fireproof Box and Gloves to Return Galaxy Note 7 [Video]

Samsung is sending Return Kits to customers who need to send back their Galaxy Note 7. If you haven't heard already, the company has permanently discontinued production of the Galaxy Note 7 and is telling customers to immediately stop using the device.

XDA Developers has posted a video of the Return Kit which features gloves, a static shielding bag, and three boxes (one of them thermally insulated).

Nice - how much flammable material do you want to give to an overheating device: box within a box within a box within a thermal box? Hope they give the delivery van drivers danger-pay.

All I can say is finally karma caught up with Samsung. They tried to beat Apple to the punch by denoting the Note 7 instead Note 6 just so they can claim they had the 7 before Apple did...I am sure they were planning to sue Apple for the 7 name.

Still, they rushed the Note 7 to market without proper testing; a company that's been making smartphones for this long should know better.

Ok. Just read that Samsung engineers have no clue as to why the phone explodes!! Some people claim it could be due to the fast charging technology they use. In that case better not use any of their devices that use this fast charging tech.

Ok but can the phone be recycled? Or fixed? Like Apple has this robot that can dismantle and recycle parts. I thought Samsung very good at copying. Do they have a similar robot?

Now what I think abut it, I bet this will repeat history of the Windows Phone after what happened with all the budget blown on 'marketing' and would possibly kill the note or Galaxy phones in general.

The video makes me feel a bit scared, I reckon. Sad what Samsung is going through right now, I know how tense working environment gets when these things happen (the VW #Dieselgate)... Let's hope Samsung sorts this out with the least damages. Apple fan here.

What happens if people still want to use the device? Is there going to be ongoing support and warranty? What about Android updates? Or is that a misnomer in the Samsung world? What happens if it explodes later on but within the warranty period? Is Samsung still liable? Will Samsung move away from non-replaceable batteries? What is the REAL reason for the phone exploding? They've already swapped battery suppliers. So is it an Android issue? Or a hacking issue? Like how is it triggered?

Samsung has issued an official recall for ALL Galaxy Note 7 devices. You are obligated to send back your device. Samsung won't be liable for any future damage, they have already warned you that this device has been deemed unsafe and you should not continue using it. There will be no warranty for recalled devices. You need to send back your phone. There may still be Android updates though.

Due to the health and safety issues they are taking extra precautions to ensure that no more devices explode whilst being returned so yes, it is real.
