Karelia Software has announced the availability of version 1.6.5 of Sandvox, the award-winning website building application for Mac OS X. Version 1.6.5 is a maintenance update, free to all registered users, that improves uploading to some SFTP and WebDAV servers. The new version also improves Snow Leopard compatibility for the media browser component.
Karelia also announced a promotion, through the entire month of November, in which Mac users can get a free single-user license to Sandvox Pro by purchasing one year's worth of web hosting from either A2 Hosting or Server Logistics as a new customer, via the links on the Karelia Hosting Comparison Chart web page. Upon receipt of a forwarded "thank you" message from the participating host partners, Karelia will send a gift certificate code good for one license to Sandvox, Pro Edition.
These partnering web hosts are also offering a discount on their hosting packages for this promotion. A2 Hosting and Server Logistics are offering a discount of 25% and 15%, respectively, to new customers who use the coupon code FREESANDVOX upon checkout.
A Universal Binary for PowerPC and Intel architectures, Sandvox 1.6.5 requires Mac OS X "Tiger" version 10.4.11, or "Leopard" version 10.5, or "Snow Leopard" version 10.6, and is available in English, French, Danish, German, Brazilian Portuguese, and both Simplified and Traditional Chinese. A single-user license to Sandvox costs $57 (USD); a single-user license for the Pro edition (enabling raw HTML editing plus additional Google integration) costs $97 (USD). Household licenses and site licenses are also available.
The free Sandvox promotion and coupon codes for discounted hosting expire at 11:59 PM (Pacific) November 30, 2009, and are only available to new hosting signups with A2 Hosting and Server Logistics that are linked from the Karelia Hosting Comparison Chart page. Further details of the offer can be found on this same web page.
