AT&T Launches 5G Network in Austin, Announces Plan to Launch 5G in 20 Cities by the End of the Year

AT&T has announced the launch of its new 5G network in select areas Austin, Texas delivering over twice the speed to Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ owners. Additionally, the company announced that it would launch 5G in over 20 major metro areas by the end of this year.

“Our 5G Evolution in Austin gives our customers a taste of the future,” said David Christopher, chief marketing officer, AT&T Entertainment Group. “With 5G Evolution from AT&T you don’t have to wait to experience endless entertainment possibilities on the next generation network when you have the latest devices.”

In select areas of Austin starting today, AT&T wireless customers with a Samsung Galaxy S8 or S8+ can access faster 5G Evolution internet speeds.


Next up, Indianapolis. We’re preparing to launch 5G Evolution there this summer. We’ll announce timing for the additional metros in the months ahead. Some of the major metros in our plans include Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, Nashville, San Francisco and others.

AT&T says customers can expect to see their data speeds increase as it adds small cells and uses advanced 5G Evolution achieved through upgrades like carrier aggregation, 4x4 MIMO, and 256 QAM.

Wow calling LTE advanced features that are in use that's ah maybe 4.5g and calling it 5g but what's new they did the same with hdpsa calling it 4g then when turned up lte called that 4glte so same AT&T

AT&T just want to look pretty, it a fake 5G to confuse customers. Its only a 4G LTE that is faster. That's why they call it "5G evolution" and has noting to do with true 5G.
