MacFlite Software has announced Trip Plan 1.0.12, an update to their popular trip planning application for Mac OS X. Developed from the ground up utilizing the latest Cocoa technologies, Trip Plan focuses on ease-of-use and sports a beautiful, yet comprehensive interface.

Trip Plan features detailed information for airports around the world, with a database of over 24,000 landing facilities and heliports worldwide. Its advanced search makes it very easy to find airports, even if the user doesn't remember what the airport name or spelling is - which can be quite a challenge when looking for accurate data. Users can organize and name groups of airports according to their working style, be it trip numbers or geographical locations.

Along side the airport and FBO (fixed-base operations) information, the application also offers helpful hotel, transportation and catering info. And Skype users can take advantage of Trip Plan's built-in Skype support too - one-click dialing to anywhere in the world. Trip Plan takes all the guess work out of pre-trip planning and facilitates printing airport information as well as schedules. Airport reports come in an 2 page easy-to-read print out along with all the FBO phone numbers and runway information.

Feature Highlights:
* Find over 24000 airports in an easy-to-use worldwide database
* Advanced Search
* Google Earth and Google Maps
* Airport Information
* FBO and Runway Information
* Hotel, Transportation and Catering
* Print Airport information
* Print Quick Trip Schedules
* Organize and group airports in any way
* Use Skype to call Handlers, FBO's and Hotels around the world
* Updates itself Automatically

Among only one of Trip Plan's most prolific features is its ability to give quick and accurate great circle distances and flight times between any airports in the database. By adding specific aircraft performance information, pilots can also plan landing and takeoff times based on timezone changes. This information is particularly useful when crossing multiple time zones in one trip. Additionally, Trip plan can give pilots quick fuel planning requirements based on their aircraft's fuel burn. While this feature is no substitute for proper flight planning, it serves as an excellent preflighting tool.

"Trip Plan comes from where most successful software products come from," said Steve McFerrin, founder of MacFlite Software. "I had a need that was not being fulfilled by other products. Trip Plan came from my own needs as a professional pilot. I had been using bloated "Windows" applications that just didn't take the time to think about the experience or how the user was going to take advantage of the software. My goal was to make a trip planning application for pilots that was not only easy to use but something they would enjoy using. Thats the kind of experience I expect from good Mac software and the kind of experience I want to provide for my customers. When I hear one of our costumers say how easy Trip Plan is or how they wished other software worked like this, I know I've got it right."
