Thomas Brown Releases AstroZapper 2.0

Posted December 17, 2009 at 7:14am by iClarified
Thomas Brown, developer of AstroZapper, has incorporated real Hubble Space Telescope, Chandra X-Ray Telescope, and other NASA source images into the app for a heightened sense of realism and fun. In this way, the developer has combined the best of classic arcade with authentic space technology.

Thanks to the developer's use of variety, gamers end up with graphics that have an old school, retro feel but are actual Hubble Space Telescope images. In this latest release of AstroZappers, there are multiple graphical themes, from retro line art to ultra high realism featuring images of actual asteroids and astronomical constructs. Players are as close to really being in space as possible without leaving the ground.

The game is played by zapping dangerous, oncoming asteroids in space. Users have a choice of three different ships to use, all of which have weapons to blast away the danger and avoid getting hit. Players can find power ups along the way and the app lets users listen to music from their iTunes libraries while enjoying the game.

This latest 2.0 version of AstroZapper has improved playing controls for gamers to choose from. Some like to stick with push button playing, while others prefer the enhanced experience of the accelerometer.

AstroZapper Features
* Multiple weapons and powerups for awesome firepower
* 3 different space ships to fly
* Large, easy to use controls
* Local high score tracking
* Auto-pause or save if the game is interrupted
* Realistic graphics theme with images taken by the Hubble Space Telescope, Chandra X-Ray Telescope, and other NASA sources
* Retro graphics theme (for old-school fans)
* Choice of improved controls, including accelerometer

The developer's love of the classic asteroid shooting game spills over into AstroZapper. A quest to keep things ever fresh and fun is one of the reasons that they've strived to use as much realism with the Hubble Space Telescope images as possible, without eliminating the classic feel.

About AstroZapper
AstroZapper puts iPhone and iPod Touch users smack dab in the middle of an asteroid storm that will destroy the earth unless someone is able to stop it. Players make it their mission to intervene, blasting the asteroids to smithereens while, at the same time, dodging them to avoid getting hit. Each level of the game offers increased challenge. Graphics for AstroZapper range from retro line art to ultra high realism featuring images of actual asteroids and astronomical constructs taken from Hubble Space Telescope photographs.
