Houdah Software has announced the release of HoudahGeo 2.5, the premiere photo geocoding solution for the Mac. HoudahGeo is tightly integrated with iPhoto'09 and Aperture Places. It offers a myriad of ways to geocode and publish photos. The latest of which is geocoding from iPhoto reference photos.
HoudahGeo 2.5 has adds full integration with Aperture 3. Upon geotagging photos with EXIF & XMP tags, HoudahGeo may notify Aperture that new metadata is available. This allows for Aperture Places to immediately refresh. This brings the same level of integration to Aperture which was previously reserved to iPhoto'09 places.
HoudahGeo is also able to access iPhoto, Aperture & Lightroom databases without opening the actual applications. Thus iPhoto and Aperture users may now handle the whole geocoding workflow within HoudahGeo and still find their Places database to be up-to-date. Enhancements brought along by HoudahGeo 2.5 include:
* New feature: Full Aperture 3 integration HoudahGeo may now notify Aperture 3 when it has written new metadata. Aperture Places will immediately refresh
* New feature: Bypass XMP sidecars There is now an option to bypass XMP sidecars during EXIF/XMP export
* New feature: Wintec WBT-202 HoudahGeo now supports log files created by the Wintec WBT-202 track logger
* New feature: Sony GPS-CS3 HoudahGeo now supports log files created by the Sony GPS-CS3 track logger
* New feature: Holux M-241 HoudahGeo now supports USB connections to the Holux M-241 track logger
* Bug fix: Flickr upload Previous versions created duplicate albums with the same name
* Bug fix: Image import On occasion, images were assigned incorrect timestamps during import
Pricing and Availability: HoudahSpot 2.5 is priced at $30 (USD) for a single-user license. It is a free upgrade for all registered HoudahGeo 1.x and 2.x customers.
