How To Forward Calls on iPhone [Video]

Here's how to forward calls on your iPhone to another number, in Settings or with your carrier's dial codes. You'll also see how to check that forwarding is on, how to turn it off, and what to do if your iPhone doesn't show the option.

We tested the steps on an iPhone 15 Pro Max and an iPhone 18 Pro Max running iOS 27.

Turn On Call Forwarding in iPhone Settings

Step One: Open Settings and Tap Apps

Open Settings, scroll down, and tap Apps.

Step Two: Tap Phone

Scroll down and tap Phone.

Step Three: Turn On Call Forwarding

Under Calls, tap Call Forwarding, then turn on Call Forwarding.

Step Four: Enter the Number

Tap Forward To, enter the number you want your calls sent to, then tap the back button. There's no Save button: going back keeps the number.

Check or Turn Off Call Forwarding

Your iPhone now forwards every call to that number. You can check it in the same place anytime: when it's on, the switch is green and the number is shown.

To stop forwarding, turn off Call Forwarding.

If You Don't See Call Forwarding

If Call Forwarding isn't listed under Calls, your line doesn't offer it in Settings. Contact your carrier. Apple says you can set up call forwarding on iPhone when your cellular service is on a GSM network.

Forward Calls With a Dial Code

Some carriers also let you forward calls with a dial code. Open the Phone app, type the code on the keypad, then tap the green call button.

In these codes, number is the 10-digit number you want your calls sent to.

Verizon's codes are from its Call Forwarding FAQs. T-Mobile's are from its self-service short codes, and T-Mobile takes 10- or 11-digit numbers, so a leading 1 is optional. AT&T publishes #21# to stop forwarding. The rest of that column is the standard GSM code set.

If Calls You Don't Answer Aren't Forwarded

Turn off Live Voicemail in the same Phone settings. Apple says to turn it off if conditional call forwarding that you set up with your carrier isn't working as expected.
