Apple is planning to bring third-party widgets to Control Center in watchOS 26, a feature long requested by Apple Watch users, according to a new report from 9to5Mac.
The update would allow developers to build their own custom widgets that can be placed alongside Apple's default toggles for Wi-Fi, Battery, and Focus Mode. This would open the door for a range of new quick-access functions, such as shortcuts to log hydration, control smart home devices, or start a specific workout.
The report also indicates that the layout for these widgets will be fully customizable through the Watch app on the iPhone. This would allow users to add, remove, and reorder Control Center widgets more easily than the current on-device method allows.
This feature is reportedly part of a broader software overhaul expected at Apple's upcoming developer conference. The company is rumored to be unveiling a new ""Solarium"" interface across its platforms, which would include a visionOS-inspired refresh for watchOS. The update is also expected to coincide with a shift to year-based naming for all of Apple's operating systems, including iOS 26 and watchOS 26.
