Apple Announces 'Awe Dropping' Special Event to Unveil iPhone 17 on September 9

Apple has officially sent out invitations for a special event on Tuesday, September 9, where the company is widely expected to unveil its new iPhone 17 lineup. The event, which carries the tagline "Awe dropping," will be broadcast from Apple Park beginning at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time, with a special viewing held for select attendees at the Steve Jobs Theater.

The date confirms a report from early last month which alleged the iPhone 17 keynote was set for September 9, with a potential in-store launch to follow on Friday, September 19. The invitation's artwork features a glowing Apple logo with a fluid, colorful design, hinting at the new 'Liquid Glass' aesthetic that Apple debuted with its latest software updates.


This year's iPhone lineup is expected to feature a significant shake-up, with a new ultra-thin 'iPhone 17 Air' model set to replace the Plus variant. Alongside the standard iPhone 17, the Pro models are rumored to get a substantial redesign featuring a wide horizontal camera bar, seen in numerous leaked dummy units and even a purported prototype spotted in public.

Other reports suggest the iPhone 17 Pro models may feature an advanced vapor chamber cooling system and could switch from a titanium back to an aluminum frame to accommodate the new design. Internally, the new lineup is expected to be powered by the A19 series of chips, with most models also getting a jump to 12GB of RAM.

Alongside the new iPhones, Apple is also expected to announce its next-generation Apple Watch models at the event.
