A new report claims to have pinpointed the dates for Apple's big fall event, with the iPhone 17 announcement purportedly scheduled for Tuesday, September 9, and a launch to follow on Friday, September 19. The information comes from German site iphone-ticker.de, which cites internal details from mobile carriers in the country.
That timeline follows Apple's established pattern, with pre-orders likely to kick off on Friday, September 12, just ahead of the in-store release. As has been widely rumored, this year's lineup is expected to feature a significant shake-up. An ultra-thin 'iPhone 17 Air' model will reportedly replace the Plus variant, putting the full lineup at four models: the standard iPhone 17, the iPhone 17 Air, and the two Pro models.
The report also touches on a revised rear design and camera layout, which has been the subject of numerous leaks. Dummy units have shown off a vertical dual-camera for the standard iPhone 17, a horizontal "runway strip" camera for the "scary thin" Air model, and a wide, horizontal camera bar for the Pro and Pro Max. Other expected upgrades include the A19 series of chips and a jump to 12GB of RAM on most models.
Beyond the iPhone, new Apple Watch models are also anticipated at the September event. The German report also suggests Apple will unveil a third-generation AirPods Pro. That claim, however, doesn't line up with what we've heard from industry analysts. Jeff Pu recently reported that the AirPods Pro 3 would not enter mass production until 2026, and Ming-Chi Kuo has said major AirPods updates are not expected until 2026.
The report also claims a new HomePod is not expected until next year, matching previous claims that software development delays have pushed the launch.
