I have an iPhone 3GS with the new bootrom running iOS 6.1.3 and baseband 05.16.08. I need to activate the device and install a jailbreak, but I do not have SHSH blobs saved. When I try to use sn0wbreeze to create a custom IPSW, the phone gets stuck on the Apple logo. How can I successfully hacktivate and jailbreak this device?

To jailbreak and hacktivate an iPhone 3GS with the new bootrom on iOS 6.1.3, you should use redsn0w. First, download the iOS 6.0 IPSW for the iPhone 3GS. Open redsn0w, go to Extras, click Select IPSW, and point it to the iOS 6.0 firmware file you just downloaded. Go back to the main menu and click Jailbreak. Ensure Install Cydia is selected. If you do not have a supported SIM card for activation, redsn0w will hacktivate the device automatically during this process. Follow the on-screen prompts to enter DFU mode. Once the tethered jailbreak is complete, you must return to redsn0w Extras and use the Just Boot option to start the phone. After the device boots successfully, open Cydia and install the p0sixspwn package. This will convert the tethered jailbreak into a permanent untethered jailbreak.
