I have an iPhone 5 running iOS 6.1.2 that is jailbroken using evasi0n. I want to use an IMEI unlock service to unlock my phone, but I am concerned that the process will require an iTunes restore. Is there a way to IMEI unlock my phone without losing my jailbreak?

Yes, you can IMEI unlock a jailbroken iPhone without losing your jailbreak. While the standard instructions often suggest a full restore in iTunes to complete the unlock, this is not strictly necessary. Once your IMEI has been whitelisted by the carrier or service provider, you can usually trigger the unlock by simply inserting a SIM card from a different carrier. If the device does not activate automatically, you can use a utility like RedSn0w to deactivate the phone. This forces the iPhone to request a new activation ticket from Apple's servers when it reconnects to Wi-Fi or iTunes, confirming the unlock without wiping your firmware or removing your jailbreak.
